COVID-19 cases in Philippines climb to 29,400 with 943 new cases

MANILA, June 20 (Xinhua) -- The number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines surged to 29,400 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 943 more infections on Saturday.

The DOH said in its bulletin that the number of recoveries rose to 7,650 after 272 more patients recovered.

The death toll also increased to 1,150 after 20 more patients succumbed to the viral disease, the DOH added.

"Two duplicates were also removed from the total case count," the DOH said, adding the total cases reported may be subject to change as these numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation.

According to the DOH, 278 of the daily reported cases were in Metro Manila, 443 cases in the Central Visayas region in the central Philippines and 222 cases were reported in other parts of the country. Enditem
