Palestine reports record 168 new COVID-19 infections in West Bank

RAMALLAH, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Palestine on Monday reported a record 168 daily new COVID-19 infections in the West Bank, bringing the total number in the Palestinian territories to 1,196 since the outbreak on March 5.

Meanwhile, five more died from the virus and 597 more have recovered, with 594 still receiving medical care, Palestinian Health Minister Mai al-Kaila said in a press statement.

Most of the new cases were recorded in the districts of Hebron and Bethlehem, she added.

Al-Kaila called on the Palestinian citizens to abide by the safety and protective measures to avoid the spread of the deadly virus in the West Bank.

In addition, the Monday COVID-19 tests for 270 Palestinian arrivals from Egypt who will be kept in home quarantine for 14 days, turned out all negative, she noted. Enditem
