MUMBAI, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Amid lackluster demand for auto sales, India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched a loyalty program that comes with a range of benefits including insurance, car service, purchasing an additional car, accessories, customer referrals, among others, a company statement said Wednesday.

Under the program, customers will be classified into four tiers -- Member, Silver, Gold and Platinum. They will also be rewarded with badges which will make customers interaction with Maruti Suzuki even more rewarding with every interaction and transaction and will give them a chance to unlock access to exclusive events and offers through a digitally supported card-less program, the statement said.

Following a blank slate with nil sales in April, Maruti Suzuki reported 86.2 percent decline in total sales at 18,539 units in May compared to the same month last year that has probably compelled the auto company to attract its customers with a loyalty program.

"Maruti Suzuki Rewards reinforces our commitment to offer a bouquet of delightful services to customers. This new loyalty program takes this spirit forward and brings together some of the finest benefits. It offers flexibility to the members to use the benefits as per their need and climb up the tier ladder of the loyalty program to avail special and exclusive benefits," said Kenichi Ayukawa, managing director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India.

Indian auto sector is already facing unprecedented challenge after sales growth declined by 18 percent last year and could see between 22 to 35 percent decline in various auto segments this year, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. Enditem
