Live COVID-19 updates: Morocco reports 295 new cases, 11,633 in total

BEIJING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

RABAT-- Morocco registered 295 new coronavirus cases on Friday, the Ministry of Health said.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country hit 11,633, while the death toll stood at 218, said Hind Ezzine, head of the department of epidemic diseases of the Ministry of Health, at a regular press briefing.

DUBAI -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday announced 410 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 46,973.

UAE's Ministry of Health and Prevention said in a statement the new cases include many nationalities. All are in a stable condition and receiving medical treatment.

DOHA -- Qatar's health ministry on Friday announced 946 new infections of COVID-19, increasing the total number of confirmed cases in the Gulf state to 92,784.

"Some 1,528 people recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 76,072, while three others died, raising the fatalities to 109," the official Qatar News Agency reported, quoting a statement by the ministry.

COTONOU -- About 10 Chinese firms in Benin on Friday provided materials and financial support worth about 122,953 U.S. dollars to Benin's government in fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

Chinese ambassador to Benin Peng Jingtao handed over the donation to Benin's Health minister Benjamin Hounkpatin on Friday in the economic capital Cotonou.

ADDIS ABABA -- Ethiopia's confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 5,425 after 250 new COVID-19 positive cases were confirmed on Friday, the Ethiopian Ministry of Health said.

The Ethiopian Ministry of Health, in a statement issued on Friday, revealed that from the total of 5,414 medical tests that were conducted within the last 24 hours, 250 of them have been tested positive for COVID-19, eventually bringing the total number of cases in the country to 5,425 as of Friday afternoon.

MINSK -- Belarus reported 331 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, taking its total to 60,713, according to the country's health ministry.

The country also reported 1,241 new recoveries in the past 24 hours, taking its total to 42,689, while 373 people with chronic diseases have died, including six over the past 24 hours, said the ministry. Enditem
