JERUSALEM -- Israeli warplanes on Friday carried out air strikes on Hamas targets in the southern Gaza Strip in response to a rocket attack, said the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in a statement.

Hours after two rockets were fired into southern Israel, IDF aircraft conducted an airstrike against a rocket manufacturing workshop and a weapons manufacturing facility, according to the statement. (Israel-Hamas-Airstrike)

WASHINGTON -- The victims of COVID-19 in the United States appear to be younger than those in other hard-hit rich countries, and the reason could be obesity.

About 60 percent of all deaths from COVID-19 in the developed countries afflicted heavily by the disease were aged 80 and over. VIENTIANE -- The Lao Ministry of Health on Saturday reported 41 new confirmed cases of dengue fever and one more death from the disease.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan has conveyed its readiness to the Indian side to reopen Kartarpur corridor on June 29 to allow Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit a holy shrine in Pakistan, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said on Saturday.

ISLAMABAD -- Two Pakistani soldiers were critically injured when a remote-controlled device went off in the country's North Waziristan district, a security official said on Saturday.

ISTANBUL -- At least one person died and 10 others were wounded on Saturday in a gas explosion in Istanbul, NTV broadcaster reported.
