Live COVID-19 updates: Saudi Arabia registers nearly 4,000 new cases on Monday

BEIJING, June 29 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

ADDIS ABABA -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases across the African continent reached 382,652 as of Monday morning, up 11,104 from that of Sunday, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said.

The death toll related to the pandemic rose 173 from Sunday to 9,657 as of Monday morning, the Africa CDC said in its latest situation update.

BELGRADE -- Serbia decided on Monday to impose stricter preventive measures in the capital of Belgrade, after an alarming increase in the number of newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the previous weeks.

From Tuesday, all people in Belgrade will be obliged to wear facial masks in indoor spaces as well as on public transport, while for the rest of Serbia it will remain a recommendation, the crisis response team decided.

BANGKOK -- Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Monday expressed his gratitude to via the Thai media for China's donation of a batch of medical equipment to fight the COVID-19 outbreak in Thailand.

The Chinese Embassy in Bangkok, acting on behalf of China, donated 1.3 million surgical face masks, 70,000 N95 face masks, 150,000 COVID-19 test kits and 70,000 PPE suits to Thailand.

RIYADH -- Saudi Arabia registered on Monday 3,943 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total infections to 186,436.

The recoveries also increased to 127,118 with the reporting of 2,363 new recovered cases, the health ministry tweeted.

The kingdom registered 48 fatalities in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,599. Enditem
