WASHINGTON -- Tate Reeves, governor of southern U.S. state Mississippi, on Tuesday signed a state legislation into law, officially removing a Confederate battle emblem from the state flag, local media reported.

Before signing the bill, Reeves said he disagrees with the removal of statues through the country, but said: "I also understand the need to commit the 1894 flag to history and find a banner that is a better emblem for all Mississippi." (US-Racism)

UNITED NATIONS -- The Iran nuclear deal remains crucial to regional and international security, said Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN undersecretary-general for political and peacebuilding affairs, on Tuesday.

"The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), endorsed by (Security Council) Resolution 2231, is a significant achievement of multilateral diplomacy and dialogue. TEHRAN -- At least 19 people were killed in an explosion at a clinic in the northern district of Iran's capital Tehran on Tuesday, said Jalal Maleki, spokesman for the Firefighting Organization of Tehran.

ANKARA -- Turkey announced on Tuesday that the leaders of Turkey, Russia and Iran will hold an Astana summit on Wednesday via teleconference, as part of their efforts to end the conflict in Syria.

"The 6th Tripartite Summit Meeting in Astana format will be held on July 1, 2020, via videoconference with the participation of our president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of the Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, and the president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin," the Turkish presidency said in a written statement.
