GHAZNI, Afghanistan -- A total of 15 militants including seven foreign fighters have been confirmed dead as fighting planes targeted a Taliban hideout in the eastern Ghazni province on Wednesday, said an army statement released here Thursday.

According to the statement, the militants launched attacks on Ashaqwal and Nugahi areas in the outskirt of the provincial capital Ghazni city on Wednesday afternoon. The troops backed by fighting planes retaliated, killing 15 insurgents including seven foreign nationals, forcing the militants to flee. (Afghanistan-Militants)

YANGON -- The death toll from monsoon landslides in Myanmar's Kachin state has risen to 113 as more bodies were recovered on Thursday, said a release from the Information Ministry.

"An over 304-meter high cliff collapsed, burying local jade scavengers," a rescue worker at the scene was quoted in the ministry's earlier release as saying. (Myanmar-Landslide-Toll)

NEW DELHI -- The total COVID-19 cases in India surpassed 600,000-mark, reaching 604,641 on Thursday, and the death toll rose to 17,834, said the latest data released by the federal health ministry.

The ministry said 434 new deaths due to COVID-19, besides fresh 19,148 positive cases, were reported during the past 24 hours across the country, taking the number of deaths to 17,834 and the total cases to 604,641. (India-COVID-19-Cases)

MANILA -- The Philippines on Thursday signed the joint circular on the guidelines for the establishment of the Philippine green lane to facilitate the speedy and safe travel of its seafarers, including their safe and swift disembarkation and crew change amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said the joint circular will serve as guide for seafarers, licensed manning agencies, shipping companies, airlines, and other entities involved in facilitating the travel of seafarers for purposes of crew change and repatriation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
