KIEV, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine reported 889 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, raising its total number to 45,887, while the respective numbers of deaths and recoveries reached 1,187 and 20,053, according to the country's Health Ministry.

Since the beginning of the country's outbreak, 3,308 children and 6,828 health workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19. A total of 12,234 patients have been hospitalized since the outbreak of the pandemic, while 401 of them were put on ventilators.

Officials have said that the recent growing number in the country stemmed from residents' non-compliance with quarantine restrictions.

On June 17, the Ukrainian government extended its quarantine restrictions until July 31, which have been in place since May 22. Enditem
