BEIJING, July 4 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

WASHINGTON -- Asian and black Americans have been more likely than other groups to report negative experiences due to their race or ethnicity since the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States, according to a new survey conducted by Pew Research Center.

About four in ten Asian and black respondents, namely 39 percent and 38 percent respectively, said people have acted as if they were uncomfortable around them because of their race or ethnicity since the outbreak, compared with 27 percent Hispanic participants and 13 percent white participants.

NEW DELHI -- India's federal health ministry Saturday morning said 442 new deaths due to COVID-19, besides fresh 22,771 positive cases, were reported during the past 24 hours across the country, taking the number of deaths to 18,655 and total cases to 648,315.

"As on 8:00 a.m. (local time) Saturday, 18,655 deaths related to novel coronavirus have been recorded in the country," reads information released by the ministry.

GENEVA -- The World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday urged countries hit by coronavirus disease to "wake up" to the pandemic situation on the ground and to "take control" of the spread of the virus.

"People need to wake up. The data is not lying. The situation on the ground is not lying," Michael Ryan, WHO emergencies director, told reporters here. Enditem
