ANKARA, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca Saturday warned of an increasing trend in COVID-19 patients in intensive care units in Turkey.

"The number of patients in the recovery process is around 20,000. There is an ongoing increase in the number of intensive care patients since previous days. The course of decrease in cases is slow," he tweeted.

Turkey's COVID-19 cases increased by 1,154 on Saturday, and the total cases stood at 204,610, the minister said.

Meanwhile, 20 people died in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 5,206, Koca said.

Turkey conducted 48,248 tests in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall number of tests to 3,584,066, he stated.

A total of 1,214 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the total recoveries to 179,492 in Turkey since the outbreak, Koca said, noting that 1,093 patients are being treated in intensive care units and 378 are intubated.

Turkey reported the first COVID-19 case on March 11.

Turkey and China have supported each other in the fight against COVID-19. Chinese doctors and medical experts held video conferences with Turkish counterparts to share China's experience in treating coronavirus patients, protecting medical workers, and controlling the spread of the virus. Enditem
