MONACO, July 7 (Xinhua) -- The Paavo Nurmi Games will see a strong men's javelin field led by Olympic champion Thomas Rohler when the meeting opens in Turku, Finland, on 11 August.
Also showing in the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting are Johannes Vetter and Andreas Hofmann of Germany.
Rohler has competed in Turku six times, winning twice. At the 2016 edition, he threw over 90 meters twice, with 91.28m and 91.04m efforts.
2017 world champion Vetter has competed at the Turku meeting twice and Hofmann, the 2018 European silver medallist, three times, though neither has yet managed a victory.
The meeting's athletes' liaison Arttu Salonen said most athletes being accepted to participate are from countries and regions where quarantine is not required to arrive in and depart from Finland.
Salonen added athletes may be asked to take a COVID-19 test depending on where they are coming from. Enditem
