German shares edge down Tuesday

FRANKFURT, July 7 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged down on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index down 116.65 points, or 0.92 percent, to close at 12,616.80 points.

Multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer lost 4.94 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by sportswear and equipment maker Adidas and aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero, which lost 2.78 percent and 2.18 percent respectively.

Global internet technology and financial services provider Wirecard gained 21.85 percent, becoming the top gainer. Pharmaceutical company Merck and marketplace organizer for the trading of shares and securities Deutsche Boerse group advanced 1.06 percent and 0.51 percent respectively.

Bayer was the most traded share with a turnover of 382.2 million euros (431.5 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
