TOKYO, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were mixed Thursday morning as investors bought on the back of Wall Street's lead, while selling was also pervasive owing to ongoing concerns about rising global COVID-19 cases.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 47.36 points, or 0.21 percent, from Wednesday to 22,486.01.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 4.62 points, or 0.30 percent, at 1,552.61.

Information and communication, and securities brokerage issues led notable gainers, while iron and steel, and real estate issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
