KATHMANDU -- At least two people died and 18 others were missing as rain-triggered floods hit Nepal's Sindhupalchowk district Wednesday night, local administration and police confirmed.

ULAN BATOR -- A laboratory test for a suspected case of bubonic plague in the western Mongolian province of Bayan-Ulgii returned negative results, the country's National Center for Zoonotic Diseases (NCZD) said Thursday.

The samples were taken from a 15-year-old resident of Bayan-Ulgii's Ulaankhus soum, who was taken to a local hospital last week after eating a marmot hunted by a dog, Nyamdorj Tsogbadrakh, director of the NCZD, told a news conference. (Mongolia-Bubonic plague)

HANOI -- Police of Vietnam's northern Dien Bien province have cracked down a major drug trafficking case, arresting three suspects and seizing 54 cakes of heroin, Vietnam News Agency reported on Thursday.

The authorities caught red-handed a man trading the drug weighing nearly 19 kg in Dien Bien's Muong Cha District on Tuesday night. From his confession, the police arrested two other members of the ring, said the report. (Vietam-Drug trafficking)

SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir -- At least eight policemen deployed to provide security to the slain local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader have been detained for questioning, officials said Thursday.
