TIRANA, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Albanian nationals over 75 years old will get electronic identity (ID) without an expiration date, according to the amendments made to the law on electronic ID, Interior Minister Sander Lleshaj announced on Thursday during the parliament session.

"All Albanian citizens, who will need to apply for a new ID card after reaching the age of 75, will get an electronic ID without an expiration date," the minister said.

Referring to the amendments, Lleshaj noted that the Albanian government focuses on modernizing the services provided to citizens, especially to people over 75 years old.

According to Lleshaj, a total of 216,189 Albanian citizens will turn 75 by July 31 this year.

He called the government's new step good news as the age group will not need to spend time in public administration offices for this service. Enditem
