SEOUL -- Eleven more U.S. soldiers in South Korea tested positive for COVID-19, the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) said Monday.

The USFK said in a statement that 11 USFK service members were confirmed with the virus after arriving in South Korea, noting that all individuals tested positive on their first mandatory COVID-19 test prior to entering quarantine. (South Korea-U.S. Soldiers-COVID-19)

NEW DELHI -- India's federal health ministry Monday morning said 500 new deaths due to COVID-19, besides fresh 28,701 positive cases, were reported during the past 24 hours across the country, taking the number of deaths to 23,174 and total cases to 878,254.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong decided on Monday to tighten anti-epidemic measures again, such as mandatory mask-wearing and closures of entertainment venues, as a record number of local COVID-19 cases were reported after loosening of such policies.

Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam announced the decision Monday evening at a press conference, hours after the Center for Health Protection (CHP) reported 41 new local infections, a new high since the COVID-19 outbreak. (Hong Kong-COVID-19-Measures)

TOKYO -- Japan will start a subsidy campaign to boost domestic tourism stricken by the COVID-19 pandemic, local media reported on Monday.

The Go To Travel Campaign will begin on July 22 though concerns remain over a resurgence of infections. In the tourism support plan, the government will initially provide discounts of 35 percent and the project will eventually subsidize up to half of expenditures including accommodation and transportation fees.
