KUNDUZ, Afghanistan -- Two Afghan soldiers and five Taliban militants were killed and 11 people from the two sides were wounded during pre-dawn clashes in northern Kunduz province, a local official said on Wednesday.

"The clashes erupted after Taliban militants stormed joint Afghan army and police checkpoint in Qarghaz locality of Iamam Sahib district early Wednesday. JAKARTA -- The death toll from flash floods in Indonesia's South Sulawesi province rose to 16 on Wednesday with 23 people missing, local media reported.

ABUJA -- Nigeria's first-ever female combat helicopter pilot Tolulope Arotile died on Tuesday as a result of head injuries sustained in a road traffic accident in the northwestern state of Kaduna, according to the Nigeria Air Force (NAF).
