3 dead, 10 injured in mini-bus crash in Cambodia: police

PHNOM PENH, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Three local people were killed and 10 others got injured after a passenger mini-bus veered off the road and overturned several times in northeast Cambodia's Mondulkiri province on Thursday, a local police chief said.

The fatal crash happened on National Road 78 in Koh Nhek district, said Khlout Sokhea, police chief of Koh Nhek district, adding that reckless driving was blamed for the accident.

"Three people were pronounced dead at the scene and 10 others were injured, including one in severe condition," he told Xinhua.

Among the dead were two men and a woman, he said, adding that for the injured, they had been rushed to the provincial hospital.

Casualties from road traffic accidents remain high in the Southeast Asian nation. During the first six months of 2020, a total of 861 people were killed and 2,449 others were wounded in road crashes across the kingdom, according to a government report. Enditem
