RIO DE JANEIRO, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Colombian international winger Orlando Berrio has thanked Flamengo fans for their support after leaving the Rio de Janeiro side to join Khor Fakkan in the United Arab Emirates.

"I enjoyed every second of living in (Rio)," Berrio wrote on Twitter. "I arrived full of dreams and conquered each one of them. I dreamed of being champion in the most difficult league in the world and I achieved it."

Berrio, who has been capped six times for Colombia, was a part of the Flamengo team that won last year's Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian Serie A title.

The 29-year-old made 82 appearances and scored seven goals for the Rubro-negro, whom he joined from Atletico Nacional in 2017.

He lost his place in the first team following the arrival of Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus last July and has not played since Brazilian football was suspended in March because of the coronavirus outbreak.

"Rio de Janeiro will always have a very special place in my heart. My daughter, Francesquinha, was born here and I had unforgettable times in my career," he added.

The comments came a day after Berrio officially joined Khor Fakkan on a two-year deal. Enditem
