BRUSSELS -- European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called for "a constructive compromise" in her tweet posted after midnight, hinting the marathon European Union (EU) summit may end soon early Tuesday.

"After 4 days of intensive negotiations, it's time to move towards a constructive compromise," she tweeted.

"European citizens are waiting for a strong recovery plan. The world is watching us," she added.

PHNOM PENH -- The free trade agreement between Cambodia and China will provide greater market access to Cambodian products and bring more benefits to the two peoples, the Cambodian Commerce Ministry said on Monday after the two sides wrapped up trade talks.

"The successful conclusion of the negotiations for the FTA in a short time has clearly reflected the commitment of the two countries' leaders to building closer ties, and this FTA will provide a lot of socio-economic benefits to the two peoples," the ministry said in a press release.

PARIS -- French Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire said on Tuesday that France is not banning China-based tech company Huawei from investing in its next-generation 5G telecom networks, but will protect its interests of "national security."

"We are not prohibiting Huawei from investing in 5G. In France there is no discrimination against any operator whatsoever," Le Maire told France info radio.
