JAKARTA, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia will break up the country's Weightlifting, Powerlifting and Bodybuilders Association (PABBSI) next month, to comply with new international regulations, an official said on Tuesday.

The decision came following a requirement to break up the three sport branches in accordance with International Weightlifting Federation rules.

The disbandment was then followed by the formation of three international organizations for each of the sports branches.

Previously the weightlifting, powerlifting and bodybuilders sports were under the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), but then this was split into the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), the Bodybuilding and Physique Sport Federation (WBPF) and the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF).

Consequently, Indonesia has also set up three associations for the three sports, comprising the Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PAB), the Indonesian Powerlifting Association (Pabersi) and the Indonesian Bodybuilding and Physique Sport Association (PBFI), Deputy Chairman of PABBSI Joko Pramono said.

"We have to obey the international rules, and we have already prepared a legal basis for the establishment of the three associations," he was quoted by local media as saying.

The breaking up of the PABBSI will be officially conducted during the meeting of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia on August 25. Enditem
