Stimulant powder worth over 2.3 mln USD seized in Myanmar state

YANGON, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized 327 kg of stimulant powder in eastern Shan state, according to a statement from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Thursday.

The security force made a seizure in Mong Hsat township on Wednesday.

Stimulant powder worth over 3.2 billion kyats (2.3 million U.S. dollars) was confiscated.

Further investigation was underway to capture the suspects under the country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, the statement said.

According to the President's Office, a total of 1,246 drug-related cases were registered across Myanmar, while 1,922 people were charged in connection with the cases as of July 11, since the formation of the Drug Activity Special Complaint Department in June 2018. Enditem
