CAIRO, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Monday reaffirmed Egypt's position against foreign intervention in Libya.
Sisi made the remarks during his meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, said Bassam Rady, spokesman for Egyptian presidency, in a statement.
The president also said Egypt aims at restoring security and stability in Libya so that the country "won't become a hotbed for terrorism that threatens regional and African security."
The Saudi foreign minister said the Saudi position goes in line with the ongoing Egyptian efforts to settle various disputes in the region.
Egypt will always remain the central regional partner for Saudi Arabia, the minister added.
Libya has been locked in a civil war since the ouster and killing of its former leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
The situation escalated in 2014, splitting power between two rival governments with warring forces, namely the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) based in the capital Tripoli and a government in the northeastern city of Tobruk allied with the Libyan National Army (LNA) led by Khalifa Haftar.
