GAZA, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Hamas, ruler of the Gaza Strip, slammed on Monday the recent Israeli attacks on Syrian and Lebanese territories.
"The movement condemns the endless attacks on Syria and Lebanon and fully supports the rights of Lebanon and Syria to resistance and confronting these attacks," Hamas said in a press statement sent to Xinhua.
"Resistance is a legitimate right until the end of the (Israeli) occupation and until the liberation of Palestine and all the occupied Arab territories," it added.
Hamas' response came a few hours after the Israeli army announced that it had foiled a military attack by four Hezbollah militants close to the borders between northern Israel and southern Lebanon.
Speaking to the Turkish Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity, a Hezbollah source said a group of militants tried to carry out an attack on Monday against Israeli targets on Lebanon's southern border.
The Israeli army deployed forces along the border with Lebanon on Thursday, just days after killing a Hezbollah militant in an air raid on Syria. Enditem
