KIEV, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Commander of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation (JFO) Volodymyr Kravchenko said Ukraine's armed forces were attacked by small arms, hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers, and large-caliber machine guns, despite the full and comprehensive ceasefire taking effect at midnight in Donbas, the JFO press service reported on Monday.

During the attack, the Armed Forces of Ukraine suffered no losses. No return fire was fired.

Kravchenko added that if the enemy violates the regime of silence and threatens Ukraine's servicemen's lives, the response of the armed forces will be immediate and decisive. At the same time, he expressed hope that the ceasefire would last.

Kravchenko, commenting on the ceasefire, said that, despite two cases of violation of the ceasefire, a stable and controlled situation is observed on the contact line in Donbas.

The representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe agreed on establishing a complete and comprehensive ceasefire in Donbas on July 27 during a Trilateral Contact Group video conference on July 22.

The agreements provide for a ban on offensive and reconnaissance actions, the use of firearms, as well as the use of disciplinary measures for violations of the ceasefire. Enditem
