AMMAN, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Tuesday reported six cases of coronavirus, increasing the total number to 1,182, according to its health ministry.

The new cases included four arrivals from Saudi Arabia, one from Iraq and one from Britain, and all have been put in quarantine at designated hotels, the ministry said in a statement.

A total of 6,364 tests were conducted on Tuesday, bringing the overall number of coronavirus tests administered since the beginning of the crisis in the country to 577,754, the statement added.

The ministry has warned against practices that violate public safety and preventive measures, mainly gathering of more than 20 people, where penalties stipulated in the defense orders will be applied against violators.

China has supported Jordan's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. On May 31, China donated a batch of medical supplies to Jordan to help combat the coronavirus. Enditem
