UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday expressed his deep concern over the increasing violence in Sudan's Darfur region, notably the attacks in West Darfur on Saturday and in North Darfur on July 13, in which dozens of people were killed and thousands were displaced.

The secretary-general commended the efforts by the Sudanese authorities, under the leadership of Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, in responding to these incidents, and called for an investigation to ensure accountability, said Farhan Haq, Guterres' deputy spokesman, in a statement. (UN-Darfur)

SAN FRANCISCO -- Boeing will complete production of the iconic 747 in 2022, the company's president and CEO Dave Calhoun said on Wednesday.

"While our 767 and 747 rates remain unchanged, in light of the current market dynamics and outlook, we'll complete production of the iconic 747 in 2022," Calhoun said in a letter to employees, adding that the company will continue to support 747 operations and sustainment well into the future. ABUJA -- A gang of gunmen attacked a community in Nigeria's north-central state of Kogi and killed 14 people early Wednesday, said the police.
