SKOPJE -- The government of North Macedonia is taking three sets of anti-crisis measures worth 500 million euros (around 588 million U.S. dollars) in support of the citizens and the country's economy to overcome the negative effects of COVID-19 pandemic, Minister of Finance Nina Angelovska said on Wednesday.

Via a Facebook post, Angelovska said that so far North Macedonia's citizens and companies have received about 140 million euros in state support, of which 40 million euros were provided to the citizens and 100 million euros to companies. (North Macedonia-Coronavirus-Measure)

SEOUL -- South Korea's retail sale rose in the first half of this year on the back of brisk online sale, caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, a government report said Thursday.

MANILA -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Thursday said it has approved a 20 million U.S. dollars grant to help the government of Samoa respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. real gross domestic product (GDP) in the second quarter is expected to contract by an annualized rate of 32.1 percent, according to the estimation from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's GDPNow model updated on Wednesday.

The latest estimation is up from a contraction of 34.3 percent released on Monday, factoring in this morning's Advance Economic Indicators report from the U.S. Census Bureau, and revising the contribution of the change in real private inventory investment to second-quarter real GDP growth.
