TRIPOLI, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- A total of 183 COVID-19 cases were reported over the past 24 hours, bringing the national tally to 3,621, said Libya's National Center for Disease Control on Friday.

Up to 618 recoveries and 74 deaths from COVID-19 have so far been reported, the center said.

The Health Ministry said on Tuesday that the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in the country and it is difficult to prevent the local transmission.

"All of Libya's municipalities have officially moved from level 3 to level 4 of the pandemic, which means it has become difficult to track suspected cases, as the number of positive cases increases," the ministry said in a statement.

In order to fight the pandemic, Libyan authorities have closed the country's borders, shut down schools and mosques, banned public gatherings and imposed a curfew. Enditem
