NEW DELHI, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 persons died in India's southern state of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday when a crane involved in construction work collapsed on them at the Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), a local police official confirmed over phone.

The HSL is a government-run premier ship building organization catering to the needs of shipbuilding, ship repairs, submarine construction and refits as well as design and construction of sophisticated state-of-the-art offshore and onshore structures.

A video captured in a CCTV camera showed the crane suddenly falling over the people working at the spot.

State Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy directed local police and administration officials to take immediate actions to address the situation.

Local police said that immediately after the mishap those crushed under the crane were rushed to a hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. Enditem
