MEXICO CITY, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Mexico's CF Monterrey on Saturday reported their fifth positive coronavirus case since beginning tests in June.

The Liga MX club did not reveal the name of the player, nor his health condition, in a statement posted on social media.

"Complying with obligations established by health authorities, the player will follow established protocols and will be isolated under medical observation," the statement read.

It added that the club's latest round of tests were conducted on 50 players, coaching staff and officials.

Among the Monterrey players to previously test positive for the virus were Vincent Janssen and Rogelio Funes Mori.

The Liga MX Apertura season began last weekend, marking football's return in Mexico after a four-month coronavirus shutdown.

Monterrey, who began their campaign with a 3-1 home win over Toluca, will travel to Leon in their next fixture on Monday. Enditem
