SINGAPORE, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 1.78 percent, or 44.91 points, to close at 2,484.91.
A total of 1.55 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.73 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.26 billion U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 281 to 190.
The STI index went down 1.7 percent, or 43.63 points, to close at 2,529.82 last Thursday.
Stocks trading in the Singapore Exchange was suspended last Friday for the Hari Raya Haji. Enditem
