Israel reports 1,615 new COVID-19 cases, 74,430 in total

JERUSALEM, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- The number of coronavirus cases in Israel has reached 74,430 with 1,615 new cases reported, the state's Ministry of Health said on Monday.

According to the ministry, the number of death cases increased to 546, with 10 new deaths.

The number of patients in serious condition decreased from 342 to 331, out of 770 patients currently hospitalized.

The number of recoveries reached 47,571, with 1,894 new recoveries, while the number of active cases stands at 26,313.

Earlier on Monday, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu chaired a meeting of the state's Corona Cabinet to discuss the situation and the steps needed to reduce the scope of the spread of the coronavirus in Israel.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office, Netanyahu directed that a proposal on reducing contacts and lowering the number of cases should be tabled with the Corona Cabinet within 48 hours.

China and Israel have cooperated on fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. On Feb. 11, the Tel Aviv Municipality Hall, a landmark in the Israeli city Tel Aviv, was illuminated with the colors of China's national flag, showing solidarity with China in the fight against the novel coronavirus.

On March 19 and April 1, two video conferences were held between Chinese doctors and Israeli counterparts to share experiences in containing the virus' spread and treatment of coronavirus patients. Enditem
