Over 3,000 people being isolated over COVID-19 concerns in Laos

VIENTIANE, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- The National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control of Laos said on Tuesday it has been monitoring 3,004 people across Laos.

Some 3,004 people have been quarantined at 52 accommodation centers across the country, the Lao Ministry of Health said in a statement.

The Lao government continues to implement preventive measures and carefully monitor people entering Laos. People entering Laos will be sent to quarantine centers for 14 days to prevent the spread of the virus.

On Monday, a total of 1,884 people entering Laos though international border checkpoint. Of these, 1,047 people crossed the border with Thailand.

A total of 18 people entered Laos from China, while 613 people from Vietnam, and six from Cambodia.

A total of 200 people entered Laos via Wattay international airport, according to the report.

The temperature of each person entering Laos was checked and no one showed signs of fever.

As of Tuesday, Laos has tested 28,547 suspected cases with 20 cases tested positive, and 19 patients have recovered.

The last patient has been treated in the designated hospital, Mittaphab Hospital (Hospital 150) in Lao capital Vientiane.
