BOGOTA, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Colombian Ministry of Health on Wednesday raised the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 345,714, with 11,624 deaths.
According to the authorities, tests detected 10,735 new infections and 309 more patients died in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the ministry also announced that reopening pilot programs would soon begin in restaurants, gyms, and drive-in movie theaters across the country.
Last week, Colombian President Ivan Duque announced that he was extending mandatory preventive isolation until Aug. 30, adding that areas that do not report any new COVID-19 cases would be allowed to gradually reopen shopping areas. Enditem
