SINGAPORE, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 1.04 percent, or 26.41 points, to close at 2,559.10.
A total of 1.63 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.32 billion Singapore dollars (about 963.5 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 238 to 193.
The STI index went up 0.68 percent, or 16.99 points, to close at 2,532.69 Wednesday. Enditem
