MOGADISHU -- Somali National Army (SNA) on Wednesday killed 17 al-Shabab militants and injured 23 others in a fierce fight in the outskirts of Baidoa town in the southern region of Bay, a military officer confirmed on Thursday.

Mohamed Abdullahi, commander of SNA's 60th Unit told journalists that al-Shabab militants launched an attack on a base run by Somali army in Daynunay village, but the forces repulsed them. (Somali-Al Shabab-Fight)

WELLINGTON -- Two people tried to blast open an ATM at a New Zealand shopping mall on Thursday morning using homemade bombs, according to local police.

Several homemade explosive devices were found outside the Chartwell Shopping Center in Hamilton, including two that appeared to have exploded, they said, adding that the ATM was slightly damaged but nobody was injured.

The ATM stood at an exterior wall of the shopping center and belonged to an ANZ bank branch, according to local media. (US-ATM-Bomb)

NEW DELHI -- At least five laborers have been killed and two others injured after a boundary wall at an under-construction factory collapsed in India's western territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, officials said Thursday.
