BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.26 percent, at 3,386.46 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.7 percent lower at 13,863.13 points.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Thursday moved down 4.13 points, or 0.31 percent to close at 1,333.22 points.

Some 20.14 billion shares worth 55.06 billion baht (about 1.78 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed higher on Thursday.

The benchmark S&P, BSE Sensex closed at 38,025.45, 362.12 points or 0.96 percent up compared to its previous close at 37,663.33.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 840.04 points on Thursday, up 2.24 points, or 0.27 percent against the previous trading day.

Over 257 million shares worth nearly 4.2 trillion Vietnamese dong (180.5 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 113.35 points on Thursday, down 0.67 points or 0.59 percent from the previous trading session.

Prices of 66 stocks went up, 83 stocks dropped, while 206 stocks remained unchanged.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher on Thursday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,588.57 up 20.44 points or 1.30 percent, and the Emas was at 11,476.63 up 135.45 points or 1.19 percent.

There were 716 gainers, 468 losers and 358 counters traded unchanged.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 1.04 percent, or 26.41 points, to close at 2,559.10.

A total of 1.63 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.32 billion Singapore dollars (about 963.5 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 238 to 193.

JAKARTA -- The IDX Composite, an index of all stocks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in Jakarta, closed at 5,178.27 points on Thursday, up by 51.22 points, or 1.00 percent against that on the previous trading day.

Approximately 11.64 billion shares worth more than 11.09 trillion Indonesian rupiahs (about 759.15 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished higher on Thursday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) Index up 0.94 point, or 0.14 percent, to close at 665.17 points.

A total of 12,573 shares worth 201.4 million riels (49,221 U.S. dollars) was traded, the CSX said, adding that 64 percent of the traded shares belonged to the ACLEDA Bank Plc (ABC) and 32 percent belonged to the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS).

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 171.96 points, or 0.69 percent, to 24,930.58 points on Thursday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,641.09 and 25,201.44. Turnover totaled 135.88 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 17.53 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Thursday as a comparatively firm yen dented sentiment, while concerns about domestic corporate profits also weighed after some underwhelming results.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 96.70 points, or 0.43 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 22,418.15.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market rallied on Thursday, with the big miners driving the growth.

At the market close the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 40.90 points or 0.68 percent at 6,042.2, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 44.40 points or 0.72 percent at 6,180.30.

SEOUL -- South Korean shares ended higher Thursday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 30.75 points, or 1.33 percent, to settle at 2,342.61. Trading volume stood at 785.2 million shares worth 17.6 trillion won (14.9 billion U.S. dollars).

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand stock market's indicator, the S&P/NZX 50 index, jumped by 0.06 percent to 11,765 on Thursday.

The jump was led by T&G Global Limited, which went up by 7.69 percent to 2.8 NZ dollars (1.86 U.S. dollars), while AFC Group Holdings Limited dropped by 50 percent to 0.001 NZ dollars.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 1.18 percent higher on Thursday.
