Palestine's COVID-19 cases surpass 17,000

RAMALLAH, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Palestine on Thursday announced 453 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total cases in the country to 17,434.
Out of the total cases, there are 8,922 active cases, including 12 being treated in intensive care units, of whom two were connected to the ventilators, the Palestinian Health Ministry said in its daily update.
It added that the death toll from the coronavirus reached 95 in Palestine, while the total recoveries reached 8,417.
The ministry noted an increase in the rate of recovery among the infected people, which hit 48.3 percent, while the rate of active cases reached 51.2 percent and the death rate stood at 0.5 percent.
It also urged the citizens to strictly abide by public health measures, by wearing face masks and practicing social distancing in public. Enditem
