TOKYO, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks retreated Friday morning as underwhelming corporate earnings dented sentiment amid a cautious mood ahead of key U.S. jobs data for July due to be released later in the day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 144.53 points, or 0.64 percent, from Thursday to 22,273.62.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 3.56 points, or 0.23 percent, at 1,546.32.

Nonferrous metal, chemical, and metal product issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
