Malaysia reports 7 new COVID-19 cases, 47 cured

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported seven new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Saturday, bringing the national total to 9,070.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that six cases are imported and one more is a local transmission.

Another 47 cases have been released, bringing the total cured and discharged to 8,775 or 96.8 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 170 active cases, two are being held in intensive care and one of those is in need of assisted breathing.

No new deaths have been reported, leaving the total deaths at 125. Enditem
