PARIS, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- French Top 14 rugby club Stade Francais said on Monday that they had halted training and put their team members into solitary quarantine after recording positive COVID-19 cases earlier the day.
"Following the COVID-19 tests carried out on Monday, August 10, it appears that the health situation of Stade Francais Paris has deteriorated," the Paris-based club said in a statement.
Although the club didn't disclose the exact number of the positive cases, French newspaper L'Equipe reported that 25 individuals from the team have been infected with the virus.
All the players and sports personnel of the club will be placed in confinement at least until August 17, the date when new tests will be carried out.
The outbreak of the coronavirus in the club has also cast shadow over the new season of Top 14 which is set to kick off on September 4 as Stade Francais will host Bordeaux-Begles in the opening match. Enditem
