MOSCOW -- Russia registered 4,945 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking its total to 897,599, the country's COVID-19 response center said in a statement Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 130 new deaths were reported, taking the nationwide toll to 15,131.

DHAKA -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bangladesh reached 263,503 on Tuesday, as nearly 3,000 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

Senior Health Ministry official Nasima Sultana said in a briefing Tuesday afternoon that "2,996 new COVID-19 positive cases and 33 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh."

GAZA -- For the first time in five months, Egypt on Tuesday reopened Rafah crossing point on the borders with southern Gaza Strip for three days to allow hundreds of stranded Palestinian travelers to cross.

The Hamas-run ministries of interior and health said that all those who will cross through Rafah crossing point to Gaza should go to quarantine centers outside the populated areas of the coastal enclave for 21 days over the COVID-19 concerns.

GABORONE -- Botswana will accelerate several development projects to lessen the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its economy, Thapelo Matsheka, minister of finance and economic development said here on Monday.

Matsheka made the remarks when presenting the mid-term review of the country's 11th national development plan to the national assembly.

BEIJING -- No new locally-transmitted confirmed, asymptomatic, or suspected cases of COVID-19 were reported in Beijing on Monday, the municipal health commission said Tuesday.

The city also reported no new imported confirmed, asymptomatic, or suspected cases on Monday, according to the commission.

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazil on Monday recorded 22,048 new COVID-19 cases and 703 related deaths, the health ministry has said.

So far, Brazil has 3,057,470 confirmed COVID-19 cases nationwide, with the country's total fatalities reaching 101,752.

NEW DELHI -- The total number of COVID-19 cases in India rose to 2,268,675 on Tuesday as the deaths crossed the 45,000 mark, reaching 45,257, according to data released by the federal health ministry.

Over the past 24 hours, 53,601 new cases were recorded across the country, as 871 deaths due to the virus were registered.

BERLIN -- Germany's COVID-19 cases rose by 966 within one day to 217,293, the Robert Koch Institute said on Tuesday.
