PHNOM PENH, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia confirmed two new imported COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 268, the Health Ministry said in a statement.

A new case was found on a 25-year-old American woman, who arrived in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, on Monday from the United States with a connecting flight in South Korea, the statement said.

"The woman tested positive for the COVID-19 on Tuesday, and currently she has been admitted to the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh for treatment," it said, adding that the remaining 24 passengers on the same flight have been placed under a 14-day mandatory quarantine.

While another case was detected on a 22-year-old Chinese man, who landed in the kingdom on Sunday from the Philippines via a direct flight, the statement said.

"The man's sample was tested for the second time and the result showed on Tuesday that he turned out to be positive for the COVID-19," it added.

The man is currently undergoing treatment at the Chak Angre Health Center in southern Phnom Penh, the statement said.

The Southeast Asian country has recorded a total of 268 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, with 220 patients cured and 48 remained in hospital. Enditem
