ISLAMABAD -- The Pakistani government has announced a three-month internship program for the young people of Pakistan under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Chairman of the CPEC Authority in Pakistan Asim Saleem Bajwa said on Saturday.

KATHMANDU -- Nepal has recorded over 100 deaths from COVID-19 so far, according to Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population on Saturday.

HONG KONG -- The Airport Authority Hong Kong Saturday announced that starting from Monday (Aug. 17), all passengers to Beijing are required to present a valid proof of a negative COVID-19 nucleic acid test result before boarding a flight from Hong Kong.

The Airport Authority said that passengers must take the test at one of the testing institutions recognized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, and the test must be done within seven days before boarding. (HK-COVID-19 test)

TOKYO -- Japan on Saturday commemorated the 75th anniversary of its surrender in World War II, with Emperor Naruhito expressing his "deep remorse" over Japan's wartime actions at an annual mourning ceremony in Tokyo.

CANBERRA -- Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Saturday that there were "humble learnings" from the Ruby Princess cruise ship, which has been linked to hundreds of COVID-19 cases and at least 22 deaths after infected passengers were allowed to disembark in Sydney on March 19.

The special commission of inquiry into events surrounding the cruise ship was released on Friday, finding that the New South Wales (NSW) health department committed multiple "serious mistakes" in its handling of the Ruby Princess. (Australia-COVID-19) Enditem
