TOKYO, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground on Tuesday morning.
Despite a solid performance by some U.S. shares overnight, particularly tech-relates ones, concerns grew over the outlook for the U.S. economy following U.S. manufacturing data for August missing expectations.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 124.32 points, or 0.54 percent, from Monday to 22,972.43.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 7.22 points, or 0.45 percent, at 1,602.60.
Mining, air transportation and bank issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
