Brunei reports imported COVID-19 case, 143 cases in total

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Brunei reported one new imported case of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the national tally to 143.

According to Brunei's Ministry of Health, the case is a 31-year-old female arriving at Brunei on Aug. 12 via Kuala Lumpur from the Middle East. The asymptomatic woman is being treated at the National Isolation Center.

The Ministry of Health has identified a total of 42 contacts, of which 34 have undergone the COVID-19 swab test and were confirmed negative, while the rest are still awaiting test results. All contacts are undergoing quarantine.

Meanwhile, 639 individuals are undergoing mandatory isolation at the monitoring centers provided by the government, who have arrived at the country after traveling abroad.

The ministry also said the Case 142, who was recorded on Aug. 7, has recovered on Monday after he was confirmed negative through the COVID-19 swab test.

There have been three deaths resulted from COVID-19 in Brunei and a total of 139 patients have recovered. Enditem
