HOUSTON -- Some coastal areas in the U.S. state of Texas issued voluntary evaluation order on Tuesday as intensified Hurricane Laura moved from the Gulf of Mexico towards the coastline.

Texas' Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo issued a voluntary evacuation effective immediately, saying that "all of us need to be prepared for the very real potential of a direct hit from the storm." (US-Hurricane)

BRZZAVILLE -- The Africa Regional Certification Commissionfor Polio Eradication officially announced on Tuesday that the World Health Organization (WHO) African Region is free of wild poliovirus.

MEXICO CITY -- Mexico will participate in clinical trials of a vaccine being developed by Italy against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Mexican Foreign Affairs Minister Marcelo Ebrard said on Tuesday.

TUNIS -- Tunisian scientific committee for the fight against the coronavirus approved on Tuesday the health protocol for the start of the new school year slated for Sept. 15, reported Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP).
