ATHENS, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Now is the best time to invest in Greece, said Greek Minister of Investment and Development Adonis Georgiadis during a meeting with a Chinese telecommunication company here this week.

The Greek official was impressed by the firm confidence and positive attitude demonstrated by ZTE, a Chinese technology company that specializes in telecommunication, towards investing in Greece and urged for further cooperation, according to an e-mailed press release issued by the company on Thursday.

As the world is faced with the challenge of the COVID-19, Greece won praise for the successful management of this crisis so far and is full of confidence in the future economic development, Georgiadis said.

The Greek government believes that the innovation of digital telecommunication technology will play a vital role in the future and plans to issue a series of policies to improve the level of telecommunication infrastructure in the country and promote the development of its economy, the minister said, according to the press release.

Georgiadis welcomed Chinese high-tech companies to participate in the construction of Greek telecommunications infrastructure, expressing the hope that ZTE can seize the opportunity to enhance the level of cooperation between the two parties in the field of telecommunications and digitalization.

He also noted that thousands of Greek households are using the equipment provided by ZTE to access the Internet.

On his part, Wang Jianbo, CEO of ZTE Balkan region, expressed ZTE's willingness to actively participate in the construction of Greek telecommunication projects. Enditem
